Mapúa University will be offering its crash course on renewable energy.
The program, through Mapúa International Summer School in partnership with local oil exploration and development company PetroEnergy Resources Corporation, is slated to open in July 2018 at Mapúa University Intramuros Campus.
Spread over a three-week period, the summer classes will be held from Mondays to Fridays for a total of 49 hours of classroom interaction. Geothermal energy will be the focus of discussion in the first week, while solar and wind energy will be given emphasis in the second and third weeks, respectively.
In addition to classroom lectures and activities, each week will be culminated by a power plant visit to provide students with firsthand industry experience. Cultural trips within Metro Manila and a culminating activity in Boracay are also part of the program.
Certificates of completion will be provided to participating students upon the fulfillment of the three-unit course.
Priced at 1,000 USD, the program fee also covers airport pickup and drop-off, health insurance, and processing of special study permit.
