Bankers Assurance Corporation (BAC), a subsidiary of the Malayan Group of Insurance Companies, traces its beginnings to 1955 when it was established as the Bankers and Manufacturers Assurance Corporation (BMAC). The company became  known as Malayan Zurich Insurance Co., Inc. (MZIC) in 1980 as a result of the joint venture of Malayan Insurance with Zurich Insurance Co., of Switzerland. MZIC became the Bankers Assurance Corporation in 2006 after the exit of Zurich Financial Services from the Philippine market.

BAC caters to the microinsurance sector through innovative, cost-effective insurance products that are responsive to the needs of the underserved low-income Filipinos. Through its Bayan Asenso microinsurance products, it can help address the concerns and risk priorities of the low-income sector such as death, hospitalization and property loss benefits.
